The Green Guide
The kitchen, designed by Cheng Design is integrated into the great room, but stands alone as elegant yet functional space. Open access to the dining table removes the need for a breakfast nook and makes entertaining easier and more fluid.
Countertops designed by Cheng Design embed found objects into the surface including integrated circuits and semi-precious stones.
A convenient recycling hatch opens through the wall enabling you to easily drop your recyclables into the appropriate bin. A recycling center was built to store recycled materials outside the house. It saves interior cabinet space and makes recycling as effortless as possible.
The kitchen floor is made of PlyBoo, or timber bamboo, as a sustainable timber (actually a grass), it does not require replanting when harvested. The PlyBoo, naturally blonde, is stained to add warmth and depth the kitchen.
The cabinets present asymmetrical angles, adding interesting and dramatic touch. The lumber is used is FSC certified cherry wood harvested from sustainable forests and non-toxic glues and finishes.
All appliances were selected for water, electrical and sound efficiency.
